Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Rapeseed Oil | 500ml

This is the oil that we get from pressing the seed of the Oil Seed Rape crop.  This is a Brassica, which means that the crop is related to cabbages, mustard and turnips.  Oil Seed Rape became a popular crop in the UK during the 1970s.  It is one of the most common break crops and goes well in rotation with wheat.  It is usually planted in August and requires a good soil, with the perfect amount of moisture and needs protection from pests.  It really starts to grow from late February – growing from a small cabbage like flower to something over 1m tall in a matter of weeks.  You will notice the fields full of its yellow flowers around May and it is ready for harvest usually 11 months after it was sown.
