Tasting Notes
Care Solidarity Rosé has a delightful onion-skin, pale rosé colour; it is immediately attractive, with wonderful fresh aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants. There are also aromatic hints of blackcurrants, watermelon and herbs.
Strawberry and raspberry fruit predominate the vibrantly fresh, full flavours of this well-balanced, dry Rosé. It is a versatile wine which will match full-flavoured foods from fish, to veggie and light meats to oriental dishes.
Care Solidarity Rosé is simply a must buy Rosé. It ticks all the boxes of a dry fresh Rosé which has finesse, lovely red fruits which are lifted with a gentle citrus finish. Move over Provence-style Rosés – this delivers wonderful flavours and finish at a great price!
About Bodegas Care
Bodegas Care (formerly called Bodegas Añadas) is owned by the Lázaros and Diáz families, who have 150 hectares and a purpose built winery located between Aguaron and Cariñena, about 50 kilometres SW of Zaragoza in Aragon, Spain. The climate is continental/mediterranean with low rainfall. Their vineyards are located in 4 different parcels between 500 and 900 metres. Bodegas Añadas decided to give the name Care (pronounced Karey) to their wines, and now refer to themselves with this name.
The Vineyards & Wine making
The grapes for this wine come from Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in vineyards around 700 metres. The grapes are night-harvested by hand-picking to preserve freshness and ensure high quality of grapes go into the wine. They are handled with care using a hydraulic vertical press, which produces a high quality must; all under the watchful eyes of Oscar Martinez, Care’s winemaker.
What’s in the name?
In Solidarity with a local association of women with Breast Cancer, 10% of the profits from this wine are donated to this cause.
Care, is the name used by the Romans to refer to the nearby town of Cariñena, which gives its name to the oldest Denominación Origen (DO) in Aragon. It also refers to the English word care. Bodegas Care combines traditional vine growing skills with modern technology in wine making and huge care is taken at all stages from night harvesting through to the production of wines. There is also a link to the Spanish for Face “Cara” as Nacho Lázaro says their wines show the modern face of Cariñena; their stylish labels use artwork from Enrique Torrijos.
